We’ve completely overhauled how you manage your allergies within the Mealeez app. Now, you can specify the severity of each allergen, using a simple but powerful “traffic light” system:
- Red: “Severe” – Indicates a strong, potentially life-threatening reaction. Mealeez will treat these allergens as strictly off-limits.
- Amber: “Moderate” – Indicates a reaction that, while uncomfortable, is less severe. Mealeez will flag these ingredients but with the ability to be more flexible with ingredient substitutions.
- Green: “Safe” – This allows you to further customize your profile. Use this to indicate that, while you may have a sensitivity to a broader category of ingredients, some specific ingredients within that category are perfectly safe for you. For example, you might have a moderate allergy to beef, but find beef gelatine is okay. By marking this as “safe,” Mealeez will not flag it in label scans or restaurant menus.
This added layer of detail transforms how Mealeez works for you, providing greater precision, flexibility and customization in all aspects of the app.
How the Mealeez 2.0 Update Changes Everything
- The Recipe Assistant is Now Smarter: The Recipe Assistant is now more flexible. When you are browsing recipes, Mealeez will still avoid all “red” ingredients. However, when necessary, it might suggest alternative ingredients for those you have marked as “moderate,” that will allow you to enjoy the recipe without fear. Mealeez will always suggest alternatives where possible, giving you more options.
- Food Label Scanner: Your Personal Allergy Radar: The Mealeez food label scanner now highlights severe allergens in red and moderate allergens in amber, making it quick and easy to identify ingredients that might cause you harm. Ingredients marked as “safe” will not trigger warnings, giving you more control. This gives you peace of mind as you shop, saving you valuable time and unnecessary stress.
- Restaurant Menus: Explore More Without Worry: Mealeez understands that going out to eat can be a source of worry. The “moderate” filter shows more dishes, giving you access to a wider range of options. The “safe” filter also allows you to see more dishes that may have been excluded previously.
- PLUS Subscribers: Enhanced “Combine All Profiles” Functionality: For our PLUS subscribers who utilize the “Combine All Profiles” option, this update provides an even greater layer of safety. Mealeez 2.0 will always prioritize safety when combining profiles. If one user marks an ingredient as “safe” but another has it on their “moderate” or “severe” list, that ingredient will be flagged at the highest severity level to ensure everyone’s safety.
